sterling is owned by what ever is left of diamler chrysler. or at this point just diamler benz or whatever they call them selves now. they own, frieghtliner, sterling, western star, and a couple others i believe, there corporate website list them all. This is were using the dodge body comes into play, IIRC the frame is actually a sterling frame, so i guess it would be a joint venture.
No......and thank the lord that ford sold sterling to daimlerbenz!!! Any poor soul who has ever been in or worked on a 96-present ford/sterling truck knows they are crap and hates em. I've spent alot of time with all the above year models and can't stand anything about them and would not own another one(owned a 98 model) nor would I recomend it to anyone. Not sure if the bullit will still be built with sales in the tank!

interesting comment.
i have been running 2 2008 sterling zim mixers with the 450HP mercedes diesel and the same eaton fuller 8LL trans that the macks have. they are 100% better than the pos renault macks are.
To me they were just a truck, my only beef was when they sat for more then a month or so they always needed a new alternator because it would seize solid and smoke/rip the belt right off when trying to start it. Though I thought how they carried over the small details to the dash and doors so it felt like an Expedition was interesting.
