Ok I need the Pros and Cons on going to 2.19in and 1.75ex on D0VE heads. I talked to a guy at a local speed shop and he said it would kill some of my lowend velocity, but with a larger cam and good intake I dont think there will be any negative effects. All comments are apreciated. I hope to take the heads in today to get them out of the way
Thanks in advance

He's wrong. Most of the speed shop people are Chevy oriented and know very little about BBFs. If anything. Grind out the smog bumps, casting bumps, smooth any sharp edges in the combustion chamber, polish the exhaust ports and you'll notice a huge difference even with stock cam and carb. The smog bumps alone are worth 20-25hp. I'd do that before the valve job.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Jul-02 AT 03:18 PM (EST)]Chase........I agree with George. Most machines shops or speed shops are Chevy oriented. I did a set of Dove-C's about 6 months ago with the same size valves you are planning on with a radious valve job. Make sure the machinest enlarges the valve pockets with a bowl hog. With out doing that step you defeat the purpose of the larger valves. Just remove those themactor bumps (smog bumps) and blend in the rest of the port runners. Also port match the gaskets to the intake and the exhaust. There is no need to enlarge the port runners on the intake side, That will kill your low end torque. Good luck and have fun!!!!!!
I also disagree. I just had a set of D0VE's done and I don't think it hurt anything. I had larger valves, porting, valve job, guides. Here's a flow sheet from my heads. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/sizeimage.php?&photoid=5042&.jpg
Thanks alot guys thats the awnser I was wanting to hear. I just wanted to see how my thoughs compared with yalls. Also are yall running SS valves or oem.

I say get to the smog bump first but trust me larger valves are worth more extra TQ and HP than most peaple think. I run 2.19 and 1.71 valves in the heads of my 400.
