I am going to buy a 4 inch lift for my 79 f2504x4. I am trying to decide between the rough country and the Skyjacker kits. I can buy a complete system (with rear springs) from RC for the same money as a Skyjacker kit(with rear blocks). I have heard mostly good things about the skyjacker kits. I don't know much about the RC kits. Can anybody help me make my decision?
I can help you make your decision. Don't get Rough Country unless you like a Rough Ride. There's a reason the Skyjacker kit comes with a higher price. It's higher quality. Get the Skyjacker kit.
You know my vote, it's the same as the 73-79 forum, skyjacker!
Like ivan said, skyjacker is just all around better quality.
I wouldn't suggest stacking rear blocks, so either go all out and buy their lifted springs or at least get 3" add a leafs for the rear.
if you are looking for just 4" you could easily build your own lift esp on an older truck. i am NOT condoning this if you aren't proficient with fabbing and dont let your testosterone get the best of you but if you REALLY are good then its a good way to save a lot of cash.
both of those kits are going to ride like absolute crap....they dont use long enough springs in the front so the shackle angle is negative....expect a ride about 3 times more harsh than stock with both kits....
