I am going to buy a 4 inch lift for my 79 f250 4x4. I am trying to decide between the rough country and the Skyjacker kits. I can buy a complete system (with rear springs) from RC for the same money as a Skyjacker kit(with rear blocks). I have heard mostly good things about the skyjacker kits. I don't know much about the RC kits. Can anybody help me make my decision?
Look at Tough Country they are based out of Utah and have full leaf kits for your truck. They are really good quality and have good customer service. I work at a tire shop in OR and our performace suspensions (lift and lower) are almost 85% Tough Country.
My truck is a 73 F250 with a 4" skyjacker lift front and rear springs. I would stay away from blocks since you already have factory blocks for overload. So factory block plus lift block equals stacked blocks a no no plus major axle wrap.
Amen to that. I had stacked blocks, thinking I would be able to deal with it since I am not hard on my stuff, but it didn't take me long to ditch them. I ended up making drop brackets to eliminate all the blocks.
As far as the question, I have put on a few RC kits, and they seem to be of good quality. If money is a concern, I would say go with the RC since it includes leaves for the rear too.
I say go for the bang for your buck. Every brand mentioned in previous posts are good and have proven themselves to being good quality. If what you can afford is rough country then go with it, because they're giving you the most for your money. Stay away from blocks on blocks. Leaves are the way to go, you won't be disappointed.
Personallyh I'd say skyjacker, but that's because I don't like coil springs from rough or tough country or super lift, but since you have a F250 it's leaf springs, and I don't have any experiance w/ RC quality of leaf springs.
You might want to ask the same question in the off road forum, alot of guys have use all kinds of lift personally and could give you a better answer.
