Well???

Well I'm sorry I could not share info before ( I like my job and want to keep it) but I hope it was worth the wait (and excitment).

...And for those that were dissappointed by the looks of the spy shots...I hope you were pleased with the real looks.

We did a fantastic job of keeping them covered up didn't we.
Heck I only saw one without camo in all the months we had them.
So all these pictures are my first looks of the exterior.

we will forgive you but someone should have told ford that they needed to get the diesel or the 6.2 ready for this launch. They needed to hit a homerun with this truck well in my mind they hit a triple. Kick A$$ looking truck but hopefully they put some torque behind it.

Looks awesome, but bummed about the lack of manual transmission option.

I really like the looks, but I sure hope that they put the power to match at launch or else I think Ford is screwed.

I like this truck a lot. Love the headlights and bed upgrades (side and tailgate steps + stow-able bed extender). Truth be told, the interior and fit and finish of my '04 is what really sold me on it, and the '09 interior is even better! The Tundra cannot even come close (it is a plastic wasteland), and the new features (live traffic, weather and sports scores, SYNC) make this truck the best in convenience. The final question, and hopefully the final nail in the coffin for the competition are the horsepower and torque figures. Can these holdover engines hold off the competition until the Boss and EcoBoost (should call it TwinForce in F150) engines show up?

Oh, and the cooled seats are awsome. I know I sound gay for saying that, but from what I read from the EPA, cooled seats could save everybody a lot of gas money since they work much better than AC for most people.

I love the new truck. The only thing I am disappointed in is that the diesel is not going to be available yet. Guess I will have to keep my '04 for another year.

I like it!!

Admin note: see photos in our articles section.

Except for the rear tail gate Ford oval symbol.....it sticks out way way too far. I know, the back up camera is installed inside it. But it looks really weird to me sticking out so far.

that by far has got to be the number one question on everyone's mind... or is that something you can't talk about Derek?

I'm enamored with it from the photos although it is not perfect styling wise. I do like the extra 6" of space in the Super Crew, the 6 speed automatic transmission, and the interior.

I'm still not sure I like the grille on the Platinum model nor the lack of color choice shown for the XLT models on Ford's website. Overall, it looks like a hit to me though.

So, when can we order one? I was pondering getting a new Expedition but maybe I'll wait for the F-150.

Is the 6.5 FT bed still available on Super Crew models?
Will we still be able to get a front bench seat on Lariat models?
Is Black interior still available?

Thanks,
Eric

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! The FX4 is great and I'll be getting one. Not sure if I'll get the '09 or wait one more year. My '04 FX4 only has 42000 miles and no trouble ever!!!

Here are my impressions:

- Styling is good.

- Putting all 6 inches of cab space in the back: mistake. I carry my kids back there as I'm sure many others do. The current cab had enough room back there for adults -- what are my kids going to do with 6 extra inches of leg room? I would have liked at least 2 of those up front. I know of a few guys over 6' 2" who have to drive
these trucks with their knees bent.

- Leaving the bed with the same problem (reaching down into it): mistake. You shouldn't have to get an optional step in order to use the bed from the side.

- All V8 line up - great considering the lowend V8 now has the mileage as the V6 did.

- Safety features (better crash protection, side impact curtains, side air bags): great

- Not releasing HP/torque numbers: tells us something. While I will wait for Ford to release the final numbers before making judgement about power output the lack of numbers (when the rest of the industry realeased theirs) tells me that one or more of the following:
1. Ford is having a challenge making the numbers and needs more time.
2. Ford wants to give as little extra power as they can get away with, because of cost and/or mileage, so they waited for every else to release numbers so they know how high/low they need to give.
3. Ford's numbers may be lower, and they are waiting for all the new model buzz to die down before announcing them.
4. Ford's numbers are incredible and they want to have a 2nd big splash, perhaps at the Chicago show.

Let's hope its #4. Frankly though... FMC disappointed a lot of enthusiasts, myself included, by releasing a new model without disclosing HP. I'm not going to sit here and be someone who bitches about the nmbers though... because I don't know them yet. Numbers aren't the disappointment, its the lack of numbers that are.

- Who are you kidding FMC? This is not a new truck. Its re-skin with enhancements through-out the truck. It looks to me like one of the primary goals was to enhance as much as possible while keeping the amount of retooling neccessary to build it as close to 0% as possible. Every time anyone at Ford is asked if its all new they dodge the question, usually by giving an answer to something you didn't ask.

- Anti-yaw technology is very cool.

- Cheapest gas station in nav system: nice.

- Concentrate less on tow and payload capability, more on usability. Again... the bed height is an issue. Reduce it and you'll reduce weight... but that would have required changing the cab enough to require retooling.

- Bigger fender flares. I don't care for them. Too "Nissian" like. If I wanted a Jeep or Titan I'd buy one.

- Back seat. Its great that you flattened the floor. That's an improvement. What would have been even better was a way to move the seat forward so I can put things behind it.

- Smart power management technology and electric power steering, great.

- Reverse camera, that's nothing new for the F150. I like the mounting location though.

- USB port in the console - good.

- 6 speed transmission: great.

I have many more impressions, some good, some not good... but I have to get some work done today!
