Ok,
Is there some kind of algorithm or something? seniority, tenure, # of posts, your own rep, that gives you more "power" (aside from Ken that is) ?
Yes, the longer a user has been a member, whether they are regular, moderator, super moderator, or administrator, and how many posts they already have.
I pretty much stick to the tech forums rather than the Club or conversation forums, so I give rep for worthwhile tech posts (not just copying and pasting diagrams )
Matt,
Thanks for that clarification.
Since I see you are all 'supporters' is this the Club FTE circle jerk "rep ring" that Ken is talking about?
"I pretty much stick to the tech forums rather than the Club or conversation forums, so I give rep for worthwhile tech posts (not just copying and pasting diagrams )"
?underhand jab?
I can see where this could help out someone who doesn't have the schematic they need. I mean how the hell could you *explain* it to someone?
BTW, I'd like to thank all the posters here with DEEP knowledge of these trucks.
I, for one, appreciate the time you take to share the information that keeps them going.
....but I've got NO posts, so I guess my + rep means next to nothing...........
I try to give rep points often, now, but didn't use to. It was really just something that didn't interest me..getting or giving. Now, it is a more popular "custom" here. More often than not, I get the "spread it around" message. I need to visit more forums, more often... and post in them. But, there are already so many knowledgeable folks here, that for the biggest share of vehicles now being driven, me smarts is useless. These computer trucks are above and beyond my comprehension...but only because I've never had to dig deeply into one. ( Thank God!! )
Negative rep points given, are usually received immediately in return. I did once..got one back once... no longer will give them. For any reason. If I've given more than one, I'll probably find out about it. But, I feel badly enough for what I did give.
Negative only begets negative back at ya. Think about it...sleep on it... anything requiring some thought... before handing it out.
Let's not go there again.. I could write a book in it
Sorry to bring up a sore subject. As you can see I wasn't here for all that....

Yeah, I understand. In fact I posted to this point today. I've got an '87 F250 4V 460, and I think it's the last non-computer truck made. OK, it's got a DS box...and RABS that dosen't work, but no electronic anything as far as engine management goes.
Well, just racking up posts so I can get a sig.
Jim

Well, within reason and in the appropriate places...We're on a much looser rein in the club section, but there still are rules...And some of it carries over into the non club sections sometimes...
