rev limiter ?

rev limiter ?
i have a 96' F-250 with a 351, the truck sometimes has a rough idle but the big problem is when i go to pass or get on the highway, if i press on the gas while in gear to much it feels like the truck completly cuts out after what seems like 5 or 10 seconds the engine comes back, is this a rev limiter or possiblt a problem in the tranny? please help

If you use the search function for this forum, you will be overwhelmed at the amount of info available. It works like this, either someone leads you step by step and types in the same thing they have done previously, or you do a search and ask when you hit something you don't understand.
