Rev limiter???

Does my truck have a rev limiter? 93 F350 460 C6... I was trying to race this large bag of douche in a tundra today and my truck acted like it had a rev limiter when I was in the high RPM range of 1st gear. It pissed me off. If I do... how do I get rid of it? I smoked him for the first 500 feet and then blahh.

How many rpms? The stock cam is what limits you you run out of air at about 4800 rpm and it is just a dog at that point.

Yes. IIRC it is somewhere between 4500-5000rmp. If you have the stock cam there is no point in getting rid of the rpm limiter. It will be out of the engine's powerband and you will actually be losing power, just shift to second next time. And good luck running a tundra. they are lighter and the 4.0 v6 model is the same HP as your 460 and the 5.7 v8 is 100hp more

Its an automatic and my truck weighs 4K and his was on 35s (probably stock gearing) and weighs 6k. We were side by side even after mine hesiated at the top of first.
Next time I'll know to back off right before it shifts.

Im not sure with the 460 , my 302 hit the limiter around 5200 , if you leave it in drive it should shift before the limiter , if you do any work to the motor cam ect , you can get in the computer with a tuner & change the limiter & reset your shift points...Lew
