Roof mounted antenna's are the best if possible.
Otherwise you loose signal. Mounting on the roof allows the truck help gather signal. if you mount on bumper or mirrior, you will always recieve better on one side then the other, yada yada.
I have a little wil. I like it, but dont use it anymore. Going k40 next antenna/system.
Go look up a firestick, they are about 2' long and you can run linears though them if you want.
Also, remember to go get your antenna modulated to your CB, otherwise you will blow out your finals.
The only way around this is to buy an antenna like a k40 which does not require modulation to the CB.
If your not sure what i'm talking about. I'll slightly explain it.
There is a wire inside the antenna, they basically cut it to lenght to match it up to the cb. If the wire is to long or to short, you basically f up your cb.
i run a 9' whip use to be off the bumper in the back now its mounted through the bed on the pass side where I had a small rust spot starting. I also run a 300 watt heater shhhh! It screams now!
If you want to run duals for more than just looks mount them as far apart as you can. That means the mirrors, but a bed mount can be made to work.
You don't need to pay somebody to "modulate" your antenna. SWR meters are not expensive and not difficult to use. Just remember never key the mic without an antenna installed.
Scott what happens if you key the mic with no antenna's? Also I am very iliterate to CB workings. I have a CB and need new antenna's. Right now they are mounted to the tool box in the bed. Both are hooked up. I have heard that at times 1 is better than two. Can you run the second as a dummy with out issue? Also what do you do when you modulate your antenna's? Anybody have a link or something like CB's for dummyies?
you can get the dual antenna wires, i have them for my firestix. that would be it, if you mount to aluminum a ground strap is also needed to optimize performance.
if you key a mic without an antenna you risk burning up your crystals. not guranteed but risky.
and where might one get one of these 300 watt boosters?
