wow kinda sounds like the builder screwed over a good motor. we had problems with our checker rebuild in our toyota too. thats y my y block is go to a good engine shop in town for machining and im putting it back together so if its messed up its my fault.

I've never worked on a Y block, but... is it possible (I'm just asking) that someone put the wrong type lifter in one side? Like maybe some hydraulics where they should be solid? Or maybe if they are hydraulics they are bad?
