I need some help regarding my 4.2L in my F150. The problem is my truck has these idle problems and the check engine light is on. Here's a quick scenerio, I am driving to work and I get on the freeway and everything is cool, then I go to an exit and stop at the light. The truck's idle begins to bogg down like there's a problem with the Air/Fuel ratio.
So, I borrowed a friend's scan tool and did a diagnostic scan on the engine. It came up with P1537 and P1538, meaning that the Intake Manifold Runner Control Bank #1 and Bank #2 are stuck open. I then checked my vacuum lines and they looked ok, I also replaced my EGR valve. Never the less I still have Emission Troubles and the "check engine" is still on. If there is anyone who can give me some help troubleshooting on this problem, please respond back.
Thanks.
I have same problem, not very common I guess, nobody I've asked knows anything about it. I did ask on partsmike.com If I find out anything I'll post. A Guy
