I have an 87 f250 with the I-6 300 motor in it. When you start the truck, it will rev up and down quite a few times. It will almost sometimes dye when it does this but, it makes it very hard to start going because it is a stick haha, I am hoping this is a quick fix, the guy I bought it from said he had just replaced the idler solenoid or something like that? I dunno, just need alittle help from you guys... thanks alot
Thats usually the IAC, idle air control valve. It should be on the side of the throttle body. Try using some throttle body cleaner, there might be some dirt in it already.
you think if i clean it, it may cut out the revving up and down when I start it????
I dunno where the throttle body is, I guess I will try and find it, I gotta do something
hahah does yours do it too roadvirus? It is sooooo annoying its not even funny... gah it sucks. I dont really even know where to look ha, I just wanna find it and FIX IT. Please me know if you find a solution.
Oh yeaaaa. It is horrible, mines also a stick so I feel your pain. Even though mines garaged for the winter. I'm leaning towards a vacuum leak which I'll take look into once it gets warmer. Is it just the up and down rpms on yours or does it ever sit at a couple thousand? Cuz mine does that too, I think it's possessed.
hahahah mine may be too no mine dont stay up at a few thousand rpms... Mine just jumps from like 2500 to almost and sometimes killing it. It is so f'ing annoying ha, my dad wants it fixed more than I do if thats possible haha. When he drives it, he gets pissed off real fast over it, it does it all the time too warm, cold, neutral, whatever it does it when you start it. I never thought of the vaccum ha maybe it is that????
Well the strange thing with mine is that sometimes it acts perfectly fine and then all the sudden it's like a switch is flipped and it goes nuts. Rather annoying.
