I don't believe they get hot enough to melt it as long as they don't touch the liner. Although I don't have stacks so stay tuned.

i would take it out because your going to have to cut a hole in it and the y-pipe will be fairly close to it at that hole and since there will be a hole in it then water can get under it and not excape causing bed rust. that is why i took mine out. what type of stacks? did you buy a kit?

It is a Grand Rock kit with mitre cuts. Found a good link for installing them, http://www.cumminsforum.com/tech/grand_rock_stack_kit/. Oh and the clamps that are suppose to connect to the bottom of the bed, i dont see how they are suppose to actually be long enough to go over the 5 inch pipe and reach under the bed? Or do they really matter?

the clamps should actually be under the bed, don't worry about length. they will be good. the y-pipe will stick down in the hole that you are going to cut in the bed. so you will have a section of pipe going down through the bed. do they send a 90* bend for you to connect your exhaust to the y-pipe? if so then installation on that will be a breeze. my opinion is to get the tips of the stacks even with the top of the cab. that is how i like miters to set, but you may have a different plan. just make sure they are straight.

when i installed mine, i just cut the front end of my bedliner off. mostly because my "Y" pipe is a square box that goes across the bottom of the bed. and i have a toolbox, so i'm not worried about protecting the front of the bed anymore. link to pics in my sig.

I left my plastic bedliner in. I just drilled my hole through the liner and the bed. It doesnt get hot enough to melt it

What size hole should I cut in the bed. The instructions that came with it did a good job of skipping right over that part..... ???

Jeez, sounds stupid but i forget what i drilled. I wanna say 5'' or so. I made it a little bit bigger than what the y pipe size was that goes through the bed. If no one else chimes in I'll measure it tomorrow for you.

i have a question on the stacks as well. every single kit i have seen on all model trucks have the y-pipe in the bed and the pipes running to the stacks in the bed as well. this cuts you from an 8 foot bed to a 6 ft bed. i have been scratching my head at how to get around this problem as it is the sole reason i havent installed stacks yet. i want to have only the stacks sticking through my bed and the y-pipe and other connecting pipes under the bed. i have figured the passenger side out with no problem but the drivers side somebody stuck a fuel tank in my way. has anyone else installed stacks as i want to or has everyone had the y-pipe in the bed and all related piping as well

Since when has a 5 inch pipe taken up 2 feet? LOL The plumbing would be a night mare and the ground clearance lost (not to mention see that pipe under the frame rail) would not be worth it IMO. The corner of the bed is outside the frame so you could maybe use 3 inch pipe to get around to the outside of the frame but it wouldn't be pretty!

Must agree with Tj. Reason why u only find y pipes is becuase there just isnt room under the bed, unless u do some major remodeling.

the only way to get dual stacks in through the bed without losing any bed space would be to run the pipes under the truck frame then up outside of the frame

i meant you cant have an 8 foot bed anymore, no more sheet rock or plywood in the bed with a closed tailgate...thats all. i really didnt want to have a 5 inch pipe under the fuel tank for the reasons stated above but i cant seem to figure out a better way right now. i really dont want all that pipe in the bed so i am holding off on the stacks for now
