Show Off Your Pre-97 Trucks
snip)I also did an entire paint correction using the Wolfgang line of products (Swirl remover, glaze, polish, and Fuzion wax). Spent approx. 26 hours on it thru an entire weekend: (snip)
Next up will be a set of bed rails, and 4:56 gears to replace the factory 4:10's
Secondly, I can't say I've heard of the Wolfgang line, but my paint is at least as bad as yours over most of the body. Did you work that by hand or use a buffer? That polish job is something else. On the other hand, my right side is showing cracks in the paint where apparently some damage was filled poorly and repainted, so is it even worth my effort to repair the rest if I'm going to need that part reworked and repainted anyway?
Finally, which spray in liner did you have done and about what did it cost you?

I'm 32 years old and have had a project in mind for the past 6 or 8 years. It has changed significantly over those years mostly because of what resources have come and gone in those years.
Truck is a total 48 inches from bumper to bumper putting it close enough to "quarter scale." It will eventually have 40 inch tires (10 inch hand-truck wheels and tires from Home Depot). It will run on 24 volts (two car batteries, for the moment) at up to 50 amps. The motor, gearing, differential, and rear axle are all a one-piece unit out of a mobility scooter.
I HAVE had it moving under it's own power recently and it actually pulls my aunts complete pop-up camper around the driveway!
Here's another angle which makes the hand-truck chassis a little less obvious, though it shows that the body is completely empty at this point (the hand-truck was only there for the sake of photos, it will have a custom chassis once some of you nice guys help me with a few dimensions)

I plan to fill in those hideous fenders and cut new more-realistic wheel openings in them... I would like to cut the bed off the body, finish the body a little better, and build a wrecker bed of some sort, though with the 40 inch tires that probably wont look right. If I do keep the body the way it is, it will get a 5th-wheel hitch on it and a custom trailer in a couple years. I will eventually add working lights at least at the factory locations, including parking, tail/brake/turn signals, and low and high beam headlights.
Tell me what you think! (even if it really is "get the hell off our forum...")
Michael.

Mine started out being all custom with a two stroke engine from a kids' toy motorcycle. It was going to be a Big Rig, at first a Peterbuilt Cab-Over.. but then someone gave me the Ford body and that changed since the engine wont fit in it, and then someone else gave me the wheelchair..
So far, I have spent a total of:
Fiberglass Body: Free
Wheelchair chassis and driveline: Free
Electronics for radio control system: Free (technically borrowed)
Electronics to control power to drive motor: $135
Steering gearbox (1600 inch-ounce RC Servo): $206
Next purchases:
Handtruck tires: $20ea. x 4
Rear hubs to adapt handtruck wheels to the wheelchair axle: Unknown
supplies for custom chassis: Unknown
Hopefuls:
Someone I know MIGHT be able to get me free batteries! 12 volt sealed lead acid. Capacity unknown, yet.
Some more Ford fans' help with chassis dimensions as well as wheel well dimensions, and other information.
