small vibration at acceleration

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport that has a small vibration at initial acceleration which feels as though it is coming from the rear end. There is no further vibration as it speeds up and no further indication of vibrations at cruising speeds. Any ideas on what this could be caused by would be greatly appreciated. thanks

First thought would be universal joint in the drive shaft is worn. Check them for any play.
