I have a 2000 E350 that I ordered and a 2000 Excursion that I bought used 15 months ago. I haven't received a letter for either one but did get the CPM sensor replaced on both thanks to the information posted in this forum.
Doubt any of us in the know will wait on the letter. I plan on doing it as soon as time permits. On another note, I don't like seeing that red box, curiosity took over and I glanced at his post and saw nothing to warrant a bad rep. Could be simple mistake. I know it can be done as I have done it. So I will be the first to help rid him of the red box. Points to you.
thanks for checking up on that Barry..didnt think to look through his post..i know a few months back a guy was very rude in here..i know he got bad rep's from a few of us..wasnt sure if it was him or not..ill send some rep's his way as well...i also took the time to find the link he can run his Vin# and get his letter http://www.ford.com/owner-services/c...ll-information

Didn't search, just glanced and the one's I did see, no reason for a bad rep.
I didn't search but he stated he got into an argument with a "mediator" maybe moderator and on some of the forums with them believing they are god I can see how you would get bad reps if you had your own opinion
P/S I have my blast suit on,but all the FTE forums aren't like this one

There is no way a moderator gave a user negative rep. Not only would that be bad for business it is against our guidelines (ours are much more strict than yours). I don't know what went down with jwhitetail or what forum it was in, but I can tell you with certainty that it was not a moderator that gave him the rep. I read several of his posts that other users might not agree with, but very few that would require any type of moderation.
Just for the record moderators do not "moderate" out an opposing opinion. That is also a part of our indoctrination. When a users post, or even that user suddenly disappears from this site, it is because he was unable or unwilling to follow the forums guidelines. It is our job to control and or remove the undesireable elements from this site. If that qualifies as a messianic complex then so be it.
Thanks for stopping by Cookie. I knew that none of the Mods would cause him to have bad rep. I did take time to read over most of his post and still don't see why he would have neg. points. He has an opinion and is not afraid to voice it, but that is a problem a lot of us face. He has helped a good many out and offered advise on others post. You guys do a great job and I for one thank you for it. I just don't like seeing the rep point thing being used to as a way to show disagreement with anothers post.
I agree. I don't care for the reputation system too much myself.
Don't look so much at what jw posted as where he posted it. The forums with more than their fair share of controversy tend to blow up a lot easier than the rest. People get hair triggers when they constantly have to defend themselves.
Will try to make this short and sweet. Called three dealers in my area...have done business with all of them. The first dealership said when your CPS goes out bring it in and we will replace it. The second dealership said when you get your letter...bring it in and we will replace it. The third dealer said bring it in and we will replace it...since it is on the recall list. Took it to the third dealer, got a new CPS with no problem whatsoever. Funny thing was that I talked to three different dealerships and got three different answers. Thanks. Have a great day.
I was the first person to ask the local dealer that changed mine out in 03, due to it failing, for a refund. (the day after it was first posted on FTE, Dec 9, i think) They had not heard of the recall, but when he typed some magic numbers in his computer he called all the other service writers over and showed them. He promply took my old reciept(I save every reciept for the truck) and had the warranty clerk file for a refund. 3 weeks later I had a chek in my hand for $638 (towing, diagnosis,CPS,labor) he told me to make an appointment and bring it back to have the black one removed and a new gray one installed.(this dealer is 20 miles from my house)
I went to the closest dealer to my house(5 miles) where I have gotten to know the diesel tech, and have camped next to the service manager, and asked them if he would just give me a new CPS and let me install it. I explained that I knew it only paid the tech .3 of an hour and I would be happy to do the work and let him make the warranty money. they looked at each other and he handed me the new CPS, and said to bring the old one back when I got a chance. I drove home did the cahnge and took the old one back within an hour, and all is good.
Remember folks, the guys at the dealership are people too, give them a reason to let YOU help them, and you just may have a better relationship down the line.
Well with luck, I saved my one that I pulled out , I will see if the dealship that I deal with will do that for me. That way I will have a new backup on board. Thank for the info, and thanks for the web link for ford recall.
