In fact, I believe that the 9x-97 T-Bird is a far better looking and more reliable vehicle, AND more are still on the road than the tub.

This is true and I agree with you there and if he wants to go fast in a Town Car all he has to do is to go to school and learn how to step on the gas pedal.....

Cadillac is where Jaguar wishes it was and Lincolns are for people who will most likely be dead within 5 years. Which kinda throws brand loyalty out the window.
Thank you. I've had a Towncar for years and I'm not dead yet. I bought it for two reasons. They are very reasonably priced used and they last forever. Mine is the Signature Touring Sedan. The Touring Sedan option makes it a very different car. It has a much firmer suspension (I suspect police suspension like on a Crown Vic), lower geared rear end, higher performance tires, dual exhaust, upgraded torque converter, etc. Go to e-bay, look up Towncar and sort by miles and you usually find several with 300,000+ miles and occasionally there are some there with over 500,000 miles on them. I get 17-19 MPG in normal running and 25 MPG on trips. You never find that kind of miles on Cadillacs.

To each their own and I see your reasoning with pricing. Town Cars last just as long as any other vehicle. There is nothing special about them.

But still nowhere in the league of what Caddy offers up for performance models. Hell, I'm willing to bet a base V6 CTS would give the Touring Sedan option a run for it's money.

IMHO Lincoln dropped the ball hard when they canned the LS cars. ALOT of potential there. Lincoln's new marketing is geared towards younger people now a days, because lets face it, Lincoln has had the "old person" stigma to it for years.

While Caddy went away from that once it freshened up their designs and threw some muscle at thier line-up.

That's pretty good. But how many people spend money to buy a 300, 400, or now 500 hp Caddy and really worry about getting 30 mpg on the highway.

Why in the heck would any one want or need a 400 hp car in the first place??....
