Latley my truck kills when I am refueling it while it is still running. Somehow it is getting air in the system. It doesn't seem to matter if its below or above 1/2 tank. No other driving or starting problems. Is this the start of a bigger problem?
the hot idle is about 600 rpm and the cold advance is about 750 rpm's. It only dies when I leave it running to pump fuel, otherwise it starts great and will idle normal. It just started doing this this winter.
Its no big deal to shut it off to fill up, then it starts right up again. But I didn't have this problem last winter so something is not right.
I'd say atleast 75% of the people around here leave their diesels running while they re-fuel, at least on the cold mornings in Wisconsin.
Try it idling with the fuel cap off the tank. Are you filling up with the larger "truck" nozzle? If I fill up with one of the large nozzles wide open it will foam out of the fill neck with a half a tank. Just a thought.
Actually your engine is idleing too low ...Curb idle as it is called should be 650 in gear for an auto......... 650 in nuetral for a manual. Really not much difference but the auto will be higher when out of gear......
