Electric fuel pump
I am going to install an electric fuel pump on my 1987 6.9 to replace my mechanical pump. I will install the block off plate in place of the fuel pump when I remove the old one, but the question I have is how many GPH or PSI pump can I use.
Also will I need to install a regulator?

Haven't done it on a diesel, but I learned the hard way ways back when I was trying to run my '68 Bronco on an electric fuel pump w/o a regulator. I burned up about 3 electric pumps before I figured the error in my ways and installed a mech pump. Never any problem since. Those mech pumps last for years and years before I've ever had one fail on me. Just remember, for me anyhows, those things always go out, and the least oppurtune times.

I don't know what the specs are, but I know guys who have put in an inline electric pump along the frame by the switching valve. You don't need high pressure; 3-5psi I believe is plenty, the pressure comes from the IP. As for the GPH I am not sure what they are rated at but I think most any of them on the market will provide plenty of fuel with the excess going through the return lines. There shouldn't be any need to install a regulator with it.
