Just zip tie it somewhere close by. Youll know when filter is dirty just by looking @ it .

You can also drill a 5/8 inch hole in the end of the 6637 and insert the minder like I did. It will still work although like Bill says, you will know the filter is dirty long before the minder says to change it.

Those OEM filter minders are a crock, if I have ever seen a crock. What to do with it? How about the circular filing cabinet most of us have somewhere on our property?

ty wrap them out of the way. I put mine on the brake master cylinder. I don't need a "Filter Minder". I just lift the hood and if it's dirty I change it.

Not to be confused with the filter minder. The temp sensor you can simply tie out of the way, but the filter minder is not necessary but you can drill a hole in the end and re install it there. I did on the first one but now it sets in the glove box. Just to eliminate any confusion, you had asked about the sensor and the next posts were referring to the filter minder.....

Boy o Boy, that sure was my bad!! Thanx for pointing it out. I happen to think those filter minders with a 6637 are so stupid that I just can't wait to get on them. I have a diesel pusher motor home that I have had for years. The filter minder is in plain sight and in all the years I have had the damn thing it has never moved even a little bit. Of course I change the filter when it is due, but I need a gadget like that telling me when to change it about as much as I need someone like Shillery telling me I have to wear a seatbelt.

So do you just remove/disconnect the filter minder? I thought pretty much everyone
tied it out of the way. Don't you try to locate the temp sensor close to the filter?

I did tie my temp sensor with a tie wrap, but why take a chance and drill the 6637? The shavings have to go somewhere and as I have already stated the thing is worthless.

Filter minder test

If you really want to see what the filter minder does and how it functions, hook it back up to the plug it came from, and gently suck on it. When you draw air into it, it draws a cylinder against a spring and makes a switch, which turns on an idiot light on the dash. If it is disconnected, there is not much of a chance (unless you short out the wires) of the light ever coming on. When you do test it, you press on the rubber covered end and it relieves the suction and it springs back and breaks the contacts on the switch. Simple but effective.....if you use it. It was easy to drill and install on the first 6637 but on the next ones, I left it in the glove box.
