Ceramic up pipes

Are these worth the money? I am going to have my turbo off putting on a WW and was thinking of doing up pipes and Boots at the same time. But the ceramic up pipes are about 150 dollars more than I was wanting to spend.

Ceramic coatings are were designed to withhold heat which, in my opinion, has an adverse effect in our application.

So save yer money!

Actually, heat = energy. By holding the heat into the up-pipes to the turbo, the exhaust gas velocity increases.

However, on a stock or mildly modified truck, you won't really feel much of a difference. Start putting some serious power to the ground, and the ceramic coating can make a bigger difference.

Like Curtis said. Unless you're planning some serious mods and putting huge power down I can't see how it'll benefit you. All that said... it's your money and I wouldn't think to tell you how to spend it. I've spent enough of mine on things that others though was a waste, but it made me happy.

You might send a PM to Kris. I know that he got a set of ceramic up-pipes. From what I've read, they can provide a little quicker turbo spool. If it were me, I would get the coated pipes.

You don't want to hole the heat in the metal, however you want to coat the inside of the pipe, so it transfers the heat straight to the turbo without heat soaking the parts. If i had the choice i would have only coated the inside, however they do look shiney as hell and will stay that way forever. I can take off from a stop and mash the pedal, and be at 30 pounds+ of boost in about 1.5 seconds if i had to guess.

I started to get turbo surge when i put on my tuner.
The reason for the WW.
Would I be better off to to change the turbo housing http://www.puredieselpower.com/catal...ing-p-723.html
or the WW and do the ceramic up pipes

I am not going to put big power

IMO, changing to a larger exhaust housing is a better option for reducing surge than the WW. I've never been a fan of the WW though, as it flows less air than the stock wheel, which is why it doesn't surge...it's not trying to force as much air in that suddenly has nowhere to go except back out through the turbo.

Ceramic pipes won't do squat for surge, but would help make spool quicker. If I were in your position, I'd go with the 1.0 housing now and save up for some of the ceramic coated up-pipes later on. You most likely will lose a little spool going to the bigger housing and the pipes will help you get that back.
