Yes i call it the timing sensor but it is the cam sensor, it is gray and I tried to put in a new one that was black but the truck would not start, so I put back the one I took off (gray) and also purchased a new map sensor, drove the truck and it seems to be running better. It has about 120k and I know that everything is original on it. Should I check any other sensor?
my guess is you have the "new" recall replacement sensor, i have seen lots of issues with them, i have a feeling there was a large batch of sensors manufactured defective and there will be a recall on the recall.
oops, didnt see the second page. do you get a check engine light? any codes pulled out of it? why do you say the cam sensor is bad? what does the truck do?
Well, I changed the cam sensor and the map sensor, truck feels like it has air in the line when I start from a dead stop. Put programmer on it and it gives off the code p0603
It says in my book (internal Ctrl Mod KAM Error) Can anyone tell me what that means?
603 is normal for a chip reprogram, just means the memory was interrupted by either low batts, reprogram or such, no worries. i'm not sure what it feels like to have air in the lines from a stop, can you give a more descriptive problem? is it sluggish or is it missing or just lacks power? does it come up on power once rolling? how about the stalling problem?
It has no power and chatters until I really step on the pedal and then it feels sluggish. I looked at some other posts regarding this and then checked the connectors on the value covers and one of them had melted, so I have ordered the repair kit from IH and figured I am going to replace all of it plus the glow plugs since I do believe everything on the truck has never been replaced. Any suggestions would be great.
