OD light flash, ABS light ON and Speedo funky = Vehicle Speed Sensor
Hey - I was running into a bunch of problems, starting one after another. The VSS in the rear Diff gets contaminated with shavings and such so the computer doesn't get good inputs - replaced it and all of my woes went away. There are threads in the forums that discuss this issue and for a $25.00 at the Ford parts counter it is an easy fix, Jay
Benny don't be discouraged just yet. There are a lot of reasons that the light could be flashing and throwing that code, i'm sure. Some of the guys that really know what is going on like Kwik, Brandon, Tenn, or Ryan Etc. may chime in. It may not be terminal.
There are only three sensors on the transmission, input top by the bell housing, output at the tail, and range selector. Given the description, I'd venture to say that the wiring or the range selector is is going out. I'd try to reseat all the plugs on the transmission first. Clear the codes then see if they come back. Check out http://www.transmissioncenter.net/E4OD.htm, about 1/3rd down it has the sensors.
Napa sells a VSS sensor for the rear end for $10.49. (They call it a ABS sensor) The P/N 530780. It fixed my flashing OD light a couple of years ago.. Good ever since..
Thanks for the replies i about had a heart attack this morning when it came on because like the others had said when you see it on it only means bad expensive things. Im not at all in a position to call BTS right now It only came on once on the way home from work, and the transmission acts like normal. It just came on and blinked for like 20 seconds and then went away once my gauge registered 100 degrees. Any other help is greatly appreciated. The tranny i think is in decent shape it runs a little hotter than most 180max but i live in florida too, so well see. Thanks guys let me know of anything else to check.
I would at the very least pull that VSS module, clean the end and re-install and see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't you could always invest the 11 bucks or so and ten minutes time and replace it. I have seen others here with a blinking OD light and the VSS is what it was.

180 to 150 can easily be the difference in senders and wiring as well. If you usually run 180, then you are fine there.
Thanks guys i will pull and check all the sensors and see if it comes back. It never came back on after i left the job and everything got warmed back up. I need to change my ATF anyway so this will be a good maintenance for the whole system. Hopefully it will fix the prob.
