Federal tire waranty?

I bought a set of federal MT's in October. One of them started splitting from the tread inward at every lug. I returned it to my dealer and he said Federal has no waranty on defects? Regardless he is of no help to me so I am looking to get federal to replace it. Anyone have any experience with this stuff or federal tire company?

No experience with Federal, per se, but have dealt with a number of people who didn't know what they were talking about. My moto; "Don't take a "no" from someone who can't say "yes".

Climb the ladder to get to the right person in the Federal Tire Company.

Best to call in the middle of the night because of the time difference between Taiwan and Indiana. My guess is that someone ther can speak English but it may not be very clear. Don't use any slang as that will throw them off.

This is why I avoid Chinese products whenever possbile. Tires aren't something to go cheap with. Tire defects can and do kill. Glad you caught the problem before someone was hurt.

Do you think it would do any good to call china on this? I was looking for the stateside dealer or customer service but can't find anything. We are likely going to be out 500ish bucks because I am not buying a replacement federal and am not real sure about keeping the ones on it. I will zip them off and look them over for any signs of a problem.

Found this on the Federal's site.

Q: Where can I obtain warranty information on Federal products?

A: For all warranty and claims information, please send an email to sales@federaltire.com.tw and we will take care of it as quickly as we can.

Good luck with this.

I sent my 3rd e-mail to them last friday. No responses whatsoever. I did get an e-mail confirmation that they recieved it.

I ordered a mastercraft this morning to replace the bad Federal.

I need to look the others over and make sure they are not doing the same thing.

At this point you have no choice but to call China. I would ask about becoming a dealer and for information on who to speak with in the US regarding this. this should get you to somebody who can help in the US

I too had problems with Chinese tires (RV tires) and it was bite the bullet. Live and learn, never again will I buy a Chinese tire of ANY variety!! File a report with National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). I found that the date code wasn't even legal. Search the RV forum for more info.

As it turns out the problem with the tire is my dealer. I purchased a replacement tire off of another dealer and he is trying to get the tuire replaced. Aparently the tire must be sent back to the distributor and checked for defects and then a warranty can be processed. I have no problem with that if it happens that way. I replaced it with a firestone,,, $$$$$ I ordered a mastercraft and they sent a firestone. Not real happy about it but it is load rated E like the others so I ain't gonna complan.
