Which Tire

Hey I'm looking at new tires for my FX4 Screw
These are the choices. I want the stock size. 275/65/18
New/takeoff BFG rugged trail TA 708.00 out the door.
New Fuzion XTI 760.00 out the door.
Goodyear Wranglers Silent armour @ 800.00 out the door.

Comments please.

Thanks Jon

I bought a set of the Bridgestone Duller REVOs at the beginning of winter in that tire size. They've been a great tire this winter in the Colorado snowstorms. I talked my local tire shop down to $200/tire but found em online for about $190/tire with shipping.

I couldn't stand the Rugged Trails in the snow, never buying those again. My other choice would have been some BFG A/T's but all the reviews seem to point towards the Bridgestone Revos as the best winter tire.

I wouldn't touch BFG rugged trails or A/Ts

The Bridgestone Duller REVO is a very good tire, but so are those silent armors.
Out of the 5 tires mentioned above, I'd go with the Goodyear silent armors.

Has anybody on this site had any experience with the Fuzion XTi's?
(Preferrably in Load Range D.)

I'm thinking about trying them on my truck when it's time to replace tires, but I don't know anything about them.

Thanks... Bruce

Get the silent armor pro grade. The best tires I've had and I've had many.

Why wouldn't you touch the A/T's? I ran them for years in Michigan snow and never had any problems on wet or dry roads. I have had them on 3 different vehicles. They do wear a bit faster than others, but they are not a tire people would buy for mileage.

Hey Jon,
Once you get a few miles on the tires, please let us know what you think of them.

Thanks... Bruce

No offense, but you use what you want. For my purposes, they are basically crap. The only good thing I hear about them is, they are good in snow/ice.

I haven't seen snow or icey roads for close to 15 years, so that doesn't help me any.
I hunt a lot, and going down gravel/dirt/muddy roads is a must. Mud traction SUCKS, they chunk out on gravel roads(fast). There are a lot of better A/T tires out there for less money to fit my purposes.
Just the price alone on the BFG A/T isn't worth it to me, b/c it doesn't perform anywheres close to some of the cheaper tires I've used.

If I had to spend the money, I'd get the BFG M/T. They get just as many miles out of them, but look and perform so much better for only a few buck more per tire.

There are many farmers around my area that have tried them, and they can't keep them on for more than 5K miles. They HATE them. They always end up pulling them off, taking a lose, and buying another set of tires, and still be happier than they were with the A/Ts.

To each their own. I lived on dirt/gravel roads when I lived in Michigan and never had them chunk out etc as you say. I too would like to get some M/T's but they wear down too quickly, but for my uses the A/T's have performed fine in the mud countless times on 3 different vehicles. Anywho, its all personal choice and what suits you best.

BFG A/T get my vote. I have been running them for years and have never been let down. You get what you pay for.

yep owned many at's live on a farm and am in the mud alot, they dont clean out that well but stab the go fast pedal and they clean out, no problems with dirt roads either. to each their own though, i like them for the quite ride on the road, i put mud tires on non daily drivers. And for the snow they are great i go in 2 wheel drive where my friends are in 4 because of tires. cant believe everything you read in consumer reports, i listen to real world people and learn from my own experiences.
