I am replacing the ignition lock cylinder on my 93 f350 diesel. I have it out but how do I identify which cylinder to order. They ask for cut or letter ID.

Reason: change title
The lock was just sloppy and worn out. My confusion was that there are 5 different cylinder locks for that year but as I found out the only difference is how they are keyed so the door lock can be matched.
I too needed to replace mine. I ended up getting one from AZone and it just happened to be the same as my original key cut.
Just bring your original key with you and ask to try a couple. You may get lucky and find one.

Y do that? when you buy the ignition it comes with keys, its just up to you to get the door locks to match. I dont recomend getting them from Autozone or any of them. Find a local locksmith and ask them to order one. There much better, best brands is ilco... they make a seperate line of them for the stores like auto zone etc. The better line is sold by locksmiths. may spend a few more dollars, but it will last you a lot longer
I tried a locksmith first. I was willing to pay the extra $. After waiting two weeks for them to finally get the cylinder in, they call me and tell me they can only get chome. I specifically asked for a black cylinder. I told them to forget it.
As far as getting the cylinder that matched the key already, I didn't need to replace the door locks or have any keys cut. My originals worked.

True, i dont have to pay for my lock work so i never think of that. But the chrome ones are sturdier thats why.
