anyone else having problems with foxfire. the past few days i have, when on a site and open a new tab it becomes non responsive. at first thought maybe my computer, but have since tried on several other desktops and laptops. the same thing.
even tried closing out spyware and antivirus , still the same thing.
Firefox is still my browser of choice, but it does have some issues.
Number one, it eats RAM. Seriously. If you're like me and only reboot when something goes wrong (PCs don't really like being powered on and off whenever you use them) Firefox will eventually suck up most of your available system memory because it has never been able to correctly release what is uses. Even when hard terminated along with it's attached processes, it won't give up it's stranglehold until you reboot. Mozilla has been aware of the problem for a while and they're looking to fix it in the new release.
Number 2 - On some machines in certain OS configurations it just doesn't like to remain stable. For example, I've used it on every PC I've owned and never run into a problem until I built a new one now two years ago. In XP it locks up constantly at random points in browsing. IE works just fine. Install Vista on the same PC, and it works just fine.
A different PC with the same OS load, ram and video drivers, no problems at all. Goofy.
I'd try a reboot if you're like me and hardly ever do it. If that doesn't work, check for a later version than what you might be using.
If its the same website, its possible a java applet or a problem with the website itself is causing problems. Thats what it sounds like since it happens on multiple computer. IF it doesn't do it with internet explorer, give Firefox 3.0 Beta 2 a shot
