anyone know about bicycle trainers?
I bougt my wife an inexpensive Magnet bike trainer. We put her bike (trek 4xxx) on it last night. when she pedals there a horrioble vibration. looking at her tire while sponning, it doesnt look completely true, but isnt horribly off either. Her tire isnt slick but not a MBT either.
Any ideas?

2 years ago I look into them and found I needed to buy an exercise bike. I found many problems with the units you place a bicycle into. Vibrations were common and as many indicated excessive tire ware was a major problem and when you pay $70+ for them I did not want that. Some of the other issues: they (depending on brand) were unstable and way to turn over and the mount for the bike were poor and "unsafe" as many indicated.
To answer your question, it may be the mount is not true and coupled with a tire/rim that may be out of round/balance that can add to the problem.

yea, Jake i know about trainers..... they make great clothes hangers!!!!!! get two that way you can both hang your clothes!!!!!! rock on brother, sorry i cant help you more than that but i spent a bunch of money on one a few years ago, and that is what happened. I would guess a wheel truing is in order! Dan

I have a Kurt Kinetic Fluid Trainer that I use with my Trek road bike & I love it! It's very smooth and pretty quiet, too. Search the internet... you can find them for no tax / free shipping occasionally. Good Luck!
