Having trouble with Windows Update, anyone else?
I've tried following all the instructions I can find about the error that talk about turning on different ports in the firewall and making sure the update website isn't in the host file (no websites were in it).
Actually I started looking around and I can't even get to the Microsoft home page, or Windows home page. (www.microsoft.com, or www.windows.com)
All other websites are working fine (that's why I'm able to post this question).

Sometimes it will look like there is nothing there, but it is way at the bottom.
Also try adding the microsoft site to your trusted sites..
You can also try PINGING the microsoft site from the command prompt to see if you are even reaching the page.
To Ping (If you do not know how) is to
Goto Start
Run
Type in CMD
when the black screen appears.
enter Ping www.microsoft.com
You should get a reply.. If not then that is the problem..
Go to Start, Run, type in
net***** stop wuauserv
Click OK
Reregister these files from Start, Run, type these in and
click OK or press Enter after each one :
regsvr32***** wuapi.dll
regsvr32***** wuaueng.dll
regsvr32***** wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32***** wucltui.dll
regsvr32***** wups.dll
regsvr32***** wuweb.dll
regsvr32***** MSXML3.dll
net***** start wuauserv
ON EDIT: enter a period then exe for the asteriks above..
I guess the software doesn't like the command
