this is sort of a newbie question but bear with me for a moment. i have worked on these trucks for some time now but never really took notice to how the seats mounted. basically, for some background, my seat slider track on the driver side has broken for a while. i am trying to go through and methodically fix anything and everything i can to keep my baby in tip top condition. this has been bothering me lately so i am going to work on getting my driver seat back up to par (which will include the for sale sign trick under the foam).
my question to you all is my bucket seats/fold down center console all sit on a metal pan/mount/plate which then bolts down to the body. why?
is everyones like this? or are some bolted directly to the floor?
It's only in the crew cab. I have a friend who got some seats out of a supercab to install in his crew cab and he ran into that problem with the metal plate. He had to modify the seats to get them to fit in the mounting plate, because in the supercab they bolt directly into the floor.
My extended cab 250 with bucket seats and center console bolted directly to the floor. My 350 CC has the 40/20/40 with the flip down console/center back rest and it is mounted with the plate. Don't know why it done that way. But that plate does make a nice cubby for a mag lite and CD folder!
ahhh ok! that makes sense. so i have to make sure its a crewcab seat!
thanx a million guys!
one more question, any suggestions where i could find the sliders to buy aside from ford? Ford wants $300 for the kit! NO ONE has a crew cab in a j-yard here!
ok so does anyone have any idea where i might find seat tracks for sale?
i have the interior torn down ready to replace the parts but i am having a hard time finding the parts! rockauto usually carries weird parts like this but they are a no go. jeff's bronco graveyard came the closest but my year truck (1996) is not listed just 93-95's. is there really that much difference?
you wouldnt believe what Ford wants for these parts... for the mount plate that goes across the cab and bolts to the floor along with four seat tracks they want $912
anymore help you guys can provide would REALLY help! i have actually tried to fix this issue before by welding the track and it lasted about 6 months so i am ready to fix it right this time!
The 93 to 95 parts should fit, I've swapped a '96 seat into my '95 with no problems at all.
It's always nice to know someone in the parts department at your dealership, friends of mine usually get me parts at cost plus 5 or 10 percent, which is often less than half of the retail price.

Odds are it will bolt right in. If you aren't sure, you should ask them for the measurements between the mounting holes on the brackets and compare them to those on your truck.
