cam, headers, intake, carb, bigger exhaust and you'll still have a lot leftover.700-800$ is a good chunk of change to take with you and your heads to a machine shop(roller rockers and other valvetrain improvements). GET RID OF ANY FRICTION POSSIBLE!

Cool, thanks, what do you think the range of hp increase is? Oh, and what kind of intake?
thanks a bunch
I'd spend $75 on the materials needed to exhaust port the heads and do that, $250 for a stock valve job, $50 for a gasket kit, $175 for a Comp cam and lifters, $75 for a new timing gear set ('68-71 to get rid of your current 4 degree retardation), $200 for a Performer RPM manifold, $275 for a rebuilt Performer 750 carb, $500 for L&L headers and the remainder for a good 3" exhaust and mufflers.
With your low compression engine, that should put you near 350-375hp and 400+ftlb of torque.
Holley 750DP, performer rpm intake,PORT AND POLISH THOSE HEADS!,I have always preferred crane over comp but you cant lose either way(basic rpms:1500-5000 or better),good timing chain, any decent headers will do(L&L,Hooker,Hedman),3" lines with high flow mufflers if street, and you will be running with the big dogs!
My mud machine runs a 547(4.5" stroke and 4.40" bore) Ford BB.Victor intake, victor heads, crane roller cam, powerforged 10:1 pistons,1250 Dominator carb,Hedman 2" primary zoomie headers, and a cloyes double roller chain.Never ran her in public yet but it blows through my 4 foot deep "TEST HOLE" with ease.

What else have you done to the engine since your last post? if nothing, what is your plan for heads? Stock, or? They, with c/r, determine your cam. Everything added to the shortblock is there to support the cam.
