front axle
irecently wrecked my explorer and found out I have a7 inch cracked in my front axle. Now there is aloud screeching noise. It doesn't make the noise driving above 60. can I get the cracked welded or do I need to get a new/used axle and what is the cost os one + labor.

if it can be welded, depends on where the crack is. what is the cause of the noise? did it run out of oil? is the shaft bent? i think you need an inspection in order to determine how to procede. i would think getting a new axle might be a good bet.

He PM'd me and said it's an '03.
Is it the axleshaft, upper control arm, lower control arm, ?? Basically, where's the crack?
Beyond that, I doubt I can help, because I'm not real familiar with the '03 front end.
