I noticed that my trucks can build up some condensation in the interior if they are allowed to sit for several days. The next time I start it up, and drive around, the water can leak out from the metal trim at the front of the headliner.
To check if you actually have a rain leak, I would carfully remove the outside trim around the winshield, and inspect the seal around the glass, rust being the main thing you are looking for. If you cant see anything, I would take a garden hose to the seam and see if you can cause a leak, if so, chances are you can track it down once the leak shows itself.
Once you have the trim off the windshield, it is easy to see the edge of the glass and reseal it. My choice of sealer is a urethane automotive grade seam sealer, its UV resistant, and does not shrink as it cures.
I've been trying to get leaks stopped in two trucks, tied the more fluid silicone, and still have leaks. One has cab lights, but sealed them too, and the leaks continue... Haven't been able to determine if it is the windshield to pinch weld, or between the pinch welds where the leak is.
I have a leak someplace on the right side. Not from the windshield. I do not have cablights. Windshield replaced along with new rubber seal, still drips from under the dash.
When it rains hard or rinsing off with a hose, water drips onto the floor mat from somewhere under the dash.
I was told once that "these" years trucks (80's) got leaks in some of the cab seams. I cleaned up all the upper cab seams and sealed them, water still drips in. I'm thinking it must be around the windshield wiper or close to there. When it gets warmer I guess I will crawl under the dash with a flashlight and have the boss lady hose the truck off. Highs have only been in the lower 20's around here.
I hear ya there, not messing with it for a few more months likely. Mine is at the top, and no rust anywhere around the windshield inset, actually, my truck is pretty clean for rust on the cab and front clip. I sealed the windshield at the glass, had to remove the trim to do that. Still no success. I do know one spot down by the VIN is letting air and water in when going down the road, but not sure about when sitting. Both trucks leak at the top, I took the trim loose on the inside to try and find where it came through there, but can't really tell.
