Question for the folks towing with the 04. I've got the trailer tow package on an 04 screw. My hitch states it is rated for 5000/500. However, the boat I tow fully loaded checks in at 6500? Is everyone towing over this using weight distribution or has someone found a hitch for this year truck rated for greater than 6500#? I had a heavy duty hitch on my 03 screw rated at 8000/800 but, I can't seem to find one for the 04. I haven't towed yet but, I'm not sure what to do.
Ya but that high tow rating is with the 4.10 gears and all the bells and whistles. I've seen people tow well over 15,000lbs with the stock hitch. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Its all tied into the frame so 15000 lbs. shouldnt be a problem and if you dont have trailer breaks its ok the F-150 can haul 30000 lbs to a stop according to the commercial with the C-130. LMAO I bet we cold do that once with our trucks b4 something was cooked or broken.
The manual on the F150 says you can have the od on when on level ground, but if you are on hills kick the od off to keep the trans from searching and the trans could over heat.
