Honestly I feel like that bad friend that you only hear from when he needs something.
Anyway I have had a bad year with the powerstoke to say the least.
You all helped my out on my leaky HPOP. I replaced that. Then had to have a tranny rebuilt, not to mention the deer, and the cow incidents, and now Yesterday a misshap with some ice while pulling a 14 foot enclosed about 60mph I thought I had it straightened back up a couple times right before the jackknife and the trailer promptly shoving mean into the median on 71 hwy in Harrisonville Mo.
Anyway the problem. I have a fuel leak somewhere. It is filling up the valley on top the motor and leaking down the back. The same way the HPOP did with the Oil. Only this is diesel. Obviously it seems worse while it is idleing. Seems like if I am driving and just stop and shut it off its good, but setting still Ideling not so good.
any kind of help or theories will be greatly appreciated. Maybe I could blame it on the accident somehow and get the insurance to take care of it.
I had the same problem on my 20007.3 at the back of the fuel bowl. There's the yellow lever to drain the water off. There are two O-rings on the lever. They go bad and let fuel slipped by. It's a fairly simple fix, and you can probably do a in 15 minutes. I hope that's your problem. Also. Its OEM part from the factory.
I am hoping that is all it is. Sabre2th has a really nice page that shows and tells you step by step how to do this procedure. I found it while doing a search for this problem. His demo was on a 99.5 model. Mine is an early 99 maybe it will be close to the same.
More than likely it is the o-rings on the yellow valve. There on ebay all the time, just search 7.3 powerstroke and they will come up. There are several guys that post in the 99-03 forum that have offered to sell them as they purchased large quantities. There was a thread yesterday where someone offered some o-rings, just can't remember if it was for this repair. I'll try to find it and post link.
