Hello everyone. My name is George and I am a ford Truck Fan. I have owned my 1982 F-150 for 26 years now. When I get a chance, I'll send some pics. But for now, I have a question about my son's 91ford ranger 4.0L. It starts fine. When he accelerate's its fine. But when he comes to a stop, it idles way down and most the time will stall out. Once he gets it running again, it acts as if it's starving for gas and runs real rough. Anyone with some help would be appreciated. I thought it might be his fuel filter, but a repair manual says it should last the lifetime of the truck. By the way, it runs rough going up and down hills!
Since when does a fuel filter last the lifetime of a truck? That is plain wrong.
You might need to check codes with a OBDI.
There are several things that can cause this
O2 sensors
EGR valve
Bad fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator - FPR
other ignition parts.
in some cases a bad computer
check the trouble codes asap.
I am sure someone will be here to help you if they have also experienced similar conditions.
