The winter blahs
Up here in the Northland, it's either snowing, or blowing cold. It takes a person off his rocker to go out there and do something, as opposed to sitting inside at the computer all day. I feel guilty for not working on my truck, but at the same time I'm staying warm. Is that so wrong?
What free time I have while not at work consists of plowing snow, shoveling snow, chiseling snow off the daily drivers, and fixing what breaks down from the cold. I could work in the garage where the torpedo heater can get it somewhat warmer in there, of course by then it's bedtime, or I could work in there in the cold temp. and suffer for it. But I don't. Is that so wrong?
I estimate my truck to take 5 years to finish. But at 3 months of summer a year, that 5 years turns into 20 years. That's alot of free time sitting at the computer each winter thinking about what I should be doing and writing threads like this. Is that so wrong?

how about ice fishing? you can spend hours in a heated shanty until the ice starts to go out and it's time to go back to the garage. actually my buddy and i (upstate NY) wait until march and ice fish when it's 40 to 50 degrees and sunny out. we are working on my 49 f-1 in my brother in laws garage. we insulated it and added a 100k BTU oil fired furnace. we're using "free" oil left over when a friend converted to nat'l gas. we keep the garage at 68 when we work. dick

Havi ,After watching the weather-channel this morn and seeing the snow coming your way ,you probably have made the smartest choice. Don"t feel bad ,conserve your energy, start a warm fire...then have some cold frosties!!stick-em in the snow, fire-up the torpedo , get it cozy in the shop, Qaulity snow dropping silence is PRICELESS!!! Enjoy and be safe!!!

Havi--it is this way every winter! I am envious of you--you have a good back--(i think) and not in pain every time you bend to scratch or move.
I am really in agony because I am on lake erie, and cold and windy, when I could be in Florida and 80 degrees and palm trees. I was not able to drive and so we cancelled, plus I have a chain hoist to get to a fellow FTEr. I feel guilty!! I go to the barn, but do not even start the heat up,cause I cannot do any freakin thing!!!! grrrr
But---I am thankful the pain is settled down a bit and lookin at all my trucks kind of makes me feel better!!! My lists of things to do is a mile long!!! AH WINTER!!! YUCK Bill
