Just in case you guys out there are wondering, a 460 doesn't run on diesel fuel. I filled one and a half tanks and drove 45 miles before it died. In case you don't get the message, don't try this away from home.LOL.
The morning I did this it was 35 outside(cold) and 5:30 AM. Half asleep and two hoses on the same pump. GAS Diesel
I grabbed the right hose just not awake.
Unfortunately the fill holes on my truck are large holes so the nozzle fit.
Well..... lesson learned. Green is diesel and red is gas, and wake up before filling gas tanks. Good way to break in a new motor.
Frankly I'd say it's a testimony to the reliability of the 460 that you could go 45 miles on diesel. I can almost see an add campaign...

Well Cac91. If you run on about half and half the octane level really sucks and so does the power. It pings bad when you try to step on the gas any more than quarter throttle(doesn't idle well either). On a full tank of deisel you might get to where you are going but if the motor dies don't expect it to start again untill you give it some gas to burn. Had to drain one tank and put octane boost in other tank.
Don't feel to bad. I used to work at a gas station and I got to witness some moron fill his 2000 Porche Carrera with deisel fuel. Then he tried to blame the gas station itself.
The best part of it was that the service station I also worked for was called to have it towed there and the next day I got to work on it. Draining the tank was annoying and then getting to run again was rough...But it was all worth while when I got to take it for it's test drive! I just ran it so that I knew that it was TOTALLY cleaned out before I gave it back to him.
A gas job on diesel is all well and good, but don't run a diesel on gas! At the last place I worked, a guy tried your trick, grab both hoses, fill it up quick, but unfortunately he put 40 gallons of gasoline into an 89 L-7000 diesel. It barely made it into the lot, and I got to spend the next day draining it out. No immediet damage, but every time I see that truck now, it has a nice cloud of blue smoke behind it.
