I have a 95 f150 (in sig)... I was driving home tonight and it just like died no sputtering no anything just lost power and died... i thought no gas.. which i was low then i got it started after 20 mins... drove to a gas station and filled it up... then on my way home again it died same as before, this time no start... i got towed home. So far this is what i know:
- runs on ether (starting fluid)
- Fuel pump isn't kicking on
- all fuses are good for fuel and relay also the emergency shut off wasn't tripped
Please help?! Bad fuel pump? Frozen fuel? Truck has 136,000 miles on it!
If you have dual fuel tanks, then the switch could be acting up, I know where is something that is there if you only have 1 tank. Your pump could be crapping out.
when u turn on the ignition can u hear the pump startup ? if so is it louder then normal ?. my truck did roughly the same thing replaced the pump its pritty easy to do. but it sounds to me like a bad pump
The dual tank trucks have the switch for front and back. Since the 1 tank truck dont have it, there is something that is plugged into were the switch would be. If you run your truck and let it die, then using a dead blow hammer bang on the bottom of the tank, while someone tries to start it. If it turns on ur pump is bad. You can also throw on a fuel pressure guage, watch the guage and if the pressure starts dropping and then the truck stalls see where the pressure stops at, then try to restart and see if the pressure is there. If no pressure its the pump.
That will work also. The harness runs along the frame and then crosses over 2 the tank. If you look around the tank you will see the harness going 2 it.
ok the harness comes in on the front side of the tank in the center if u can see the plug pull it off and clean the terminals and bend the little sockets in a little on the plug so they fit tighter i dint think u have to lower the tankto get at the plug.
not too sure howmany wires are supposed to have power back there but if u claened the connection s up and put it backtogether and it still dosent work i would say its a bad pump.
