When I press the accelerator there is a dead spot, I can let off or accelerate a little more and it's fine. It's seems to be right at cruising speed which is
aggravating.
What do mean by dead spot? Doesnt acc or decell? I know in my truck there is a spot where it just keeps it quiet if im going down a hill. If i let off the gas going down you hear the engine slowing down, then if i push it a little it doesnt get faster or slows down. Is that what you mean?
Id ck you TPS sensor. There might be a dead spot in there. If you take volt meter and ck to see if the voltage goes up when you push the throttle. Go through idle to WOT.
Every truck has one. On the 5.8 its on the bottom side of the throttle body. There will be a red, green and black wire comming out of it. Ill take a pic of where it is and stick it up and a few.
Ok here is the pic of the plug for the tps.

Hey 95 350 XL is absolutely right on the TPS being bad. I used to work at the factory that made those TPS sensors. I'll bet it has a FORD insignia and a CTS stamped on it. Either a 522 or 526 part number also. The 522 came with wires and a plug end and the 526 had just a female plug socket. They do get dead spots. I have had dead spots develop on FORD and GM products. Just curious, How many miles did you get out of it before it started giving you fits?
Hey, you guys are good, I usually don't but, I bought a salvage engine 351W. It came with a 30 day warranty and turned out to be very good engine, I found out the hard way the wiring harness from the old engine 'must' go on the new engine. I'll pull the TPS tomorrow and buy a new one.
If it's the part in front of the TPS, it is the canister purge valve/solenoid. It goes to the charcoal canister on the fender. Takes the vapor from the fuel tanks and injects it into the throttle. Mine has been plugged since I got the truck several years ago.
Thanks, I was suspecting everything that had a vacuum hose or electrical connection to be the problem. This is my first with fuel injection and I appreciate the assistance, carburetors are my thing, mostly holley's.
The F-350 is used in a small skid steer business I started this summer. Always been a ford guy and the 80-96 F series has always been my favorite. It was just out of the question to pay 30-45K for a new truck!. It just didn't regester with me that a truck was worth that much. Heck!, I can rebuild an older f series like new and still have way less than the cost of a new one.
