No 4 barrel carbs were offered till 1975, and then only on 390's. No F Series truck with a 352 or 360 engine ever came from the factory with a 4 barrel carb.
Sorry to dispute you, but we had a stone stock 1971 F250 2wd with a 4bbl. Engine was totally original, knew the original owner, engine had not been touched, we were 2nd owner. It had a 4bbl from the factory. That I am 100% sure of.
Not everything in all books is true. Sometimes people get things changed because they are willing to pay for it. This guy told the Ford dealer he would walk across the street and buy a Chevy if he couldn't get a 4bbl motor in a Ford. He got it, his first new pickup purchase. It came off the transport like that, he watched them unload it, he waited for dealer prep and drove it home the same day it was delivered to the dealer. The dealer didn't install the intake and carb on this truck, the factory did.
