i see this alot here, and in the superduty forums.
i know i am not the only one that has absolutely no idea what you all are talking about with your abbreviations.
here are some examples.
hpop, ebov, idm, ae, cck, romp romp, cct, cps, ccv,
i have asked several ford people , and the answer i get is the same. that it is code for something, but they have no idea what the code is either.

BOO = Brake On/Off switch
HPOP = High Pressure Oil Pump
IDM = Injector Driver Module
AE = Auto Enginuity (scanner software for PC's & laptops)
CPS = Camshaft Position Sensor
CCV = CrankCase Vent
TC = Transfer Case
CKP = CranKshaft Position sensor
gas engines had some of these plus ERV (Exhaust Recirculation Vent) and ERC (Exhaust Recirculation Control), TAB and TAD (Thermactor Air Bypass and Divert), EGO and HEGO... TVS (thermal vacuum switch)...
EBPV & EBP Sensor = Exhaust BackPressure Valve (used like a heat riser on a early-to-mid '70's gas motor for the same reason - warm up the intake manifold to improve combustion)
romp romp is the loping idle or loping stall you get when the oil is too cold to flow properly through the high pressure passages of the heads (balance tube kits are available, and are reputed to work quite well)
I'm sure all of these have been answered plus a few more since I began typing this.. but I started this reply, so I figured I had to post it...

Do I have a defective part, and is this what the recall is all about?

the only thing i have done to the 02 is a 4 inch exhaust, on the recommendation of a ford diesel tech.

Next things to do would either go the cheap/free rout: 10K mod, 6637, that sort of
thing, OR go and get stage 2 AFE, guages, and a DP-chip!
I went cheap with muflerectomy, 6637, used superchips, (80 HP, and not that great) a
10K, and I already have permagrin and PMS!
I just added a bypass coolant filter and a 203* thermostat and billet housing, and I
love the extra heat up North, here in MN, its nice to have a truck that warms up
quickly.
Edit: Heh... that's my opinion anyway.
OH and hey, if you do get a 6637, and you have snow, you should get a
pre-filter/cover for it. (assuming you do, 'cause of the truck with the plow )

the truck already has a plow on it when i bought it.
the ford tech i talked to said not to bother with all the add-ons, that a 4 inch exhaust was all i needed. and i have to agree with him.
the way it is, if there is anything other than sunny dry road, this thing is all over the road when i stomp on the go pedal.
the limited slip rear axle, 4 inch exhaust, and turbo kicking in equals massive wheel spin and loss of control, which leads to smoke off the rear wheels if i stay in it.
i think i need larger tires to calm it down.
or a block under the go pedal.
