I just pulled up at a motel in <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Albuquerque</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">NM</st1:state></st1> and while I was signing the paper work I thought I heard a weird knocking noise for every cycle of engine rev, idling.
I had to backup, so, I open the window and stick my head out and I was right… the truck is making a knocking sound when idling. If I rev the Engine the noise seems to disappear or at least I can’t hear it any more. The noise is coming from the left bottom of the engine block. I have used cruise control throughout the 2000 miles trip.
The engine starts and sounds normal and crisp expect for this knocking at idle. Reving the engine seems to make this noise go away. Not sure what to do…
All fuilds have been religiously changed in time, I have 54K miles on it, 2000 dually.
That Exhaust could be hitting somewhere around the firewall it's really tight in there or down at the tranny cross member I have a 4" and its tight . Maybe a clamp came lose and a pipe moved.
Vijay, I say exhaust too. As long as the truck is running and driving fine, I wouldn't worry. But worst case senario, one of our OBS guys lives in Rio Rancho just north of Alb. I'm sure he could lend a hand.
