Lens Replacement in mirror

Well like an *** I busted the lens on back of my passenger side mirror. I have tape on it now so no water gets in but has anyone replaced the lens or do I need a new mirror.
If it's possible please point me to a link for buying a new lens and instructions how to replace it.
Thanks in advance
Glen

I just had to replace mine (broke the drivers side) with the recon after market smoke lenses I purchased them on amazon for like $78. You can also get them from Dfuser which is a supprter on this site. Ebay also has them. They are pretty easy to install with the instructions that are provided. If you want the factory ones you have to go to ford or look on Ebay.

Glen, I'm having to assume that you're talking about the amber lens covering the turn signal LEDs.

If this is so, I have a King Ranch with the color matched extendable towing mirrors. I had a bird take out the drivers side amber cover on the mirror. They do not make just the amber cover...it's glued in. I had to buy an entire replacement cover and have it painted to match from a local body shop.

just like it was said by msgtg, ford only sells the cover complete with the signal in it. but recon sells just the lenses for your factory cover.

Just to clarify, msgtg you were given bad information. The signal lenses are not glued in, they are just held in by some tabs. Yes, apparently Ford only sells the lense as an assembly with the mirror back, but occasionally you can find a set of the amber lenses on ebay or go with the recons. That sucks that you had to buy a new mirror back and pay to have it painted. I'm sure that wasn't cheap.

I replaced mine with recon smoked lenses, the driver's side factory amber lense had a crack in it. My passenger side lense is in perfect condition. If you are looking to replace the factory one, I can work something out for you if shipping isn't too bad to your location.

I highly recommend the recon smoked lenses, but if you are set on factory replacement, I can hook you up. It's a bit of a process to remove the back cover - almost easier with the mirror off the truck, but if you search the forum you can find the instructions - there is three tabs (or four) I can't remember that you have to move the mirror to the side and push them to release the back cover assembly to get at the lenses.

Move the mirror so that it's facing the window as far as it will travel. That will give you access to the tabs behind the mirror. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to GENTLY work the tabs (three if I remember right). That will allow the back cover to come loose. Then you just unplug the wiring plug. To re-install, it's the reverse process.

Happy New Year!
