Idle adjustment

I have a 95 7.3 liter F350. The engine has a slight shake when it idles. How do I adjust the idle speed by about 25 to 50 RPM? This smooths things out when I press the accelerator.

There is no Idle adj. this problem could be a number of things, first thing I would check is the oil, low, wrong grade, crappy oil,or low level

so you can adj. your Idle up for normal operation or is it just when you have the park brake on?I have one of these aux Idle controll boxes from ford and it bumps up the Idle but only when the park brake is on

ya but you can ground out the wire that goes to the parking brake wire and now you have an idle controller that works without the p. brake. i have a two position switch set up so it comes on with the e. brake and in the other position it keeps the idle up all the time but DON ' T RAISE IT TO HIGH IF YOUR DRIVING! just a word of caution any higher than 200 rpms and the tranny will slam into gear i keep mine about 55- 75 rpms high than normal its plenty to keep the batterys up when i use the plow a lot. I do a couple of driveways thats what A: kills the batterys and B: kills trannys

This is not meant to adjust idle though. Just to raise it while your parked.

you can do the "hot foot mod" and use it as an idle adjustment based on your tps/ivs readings. wouldnt recomend it though. its set for a reason. odds are you have an oil aeration issue or a trans range sensor issue

I already have an AIC but need to somehow trick my AIC into thinking my parking brake is on...its hard to winch myself out (w/the idle bumped up) when I have to have the parking brake in...counter productive...

Manuel or Auto tranny?

I just replaced the DMF with Valire SMF on a 95 F-350 and got a nice surprise in reguards to idle ,,,,,,,,, with DMF idle was low and shaky with the new solid flywheel the idle stepped up just a tad but is rock steady smooth,,,, the DMF had a lot of play about 3/4 inch and it caused a shake and low idle....... So any way ifn ya have a manuel the DMF might be the culprit.

Tim,

That link sent me to "Search.com", not to the thread you referenced. Did something get moved?
