The WTS light is completely independent of the actual glow plugs. Its on time is not an indicator of function.

Are you having a hard start issue when cold?

If you find the relay is bad don't buy a stock one. Get one of these!
Stancor / White-Rodgers - 586-903 - Allied Electronics

x2 on the stancor

The WTS light is on for 10-15 secs(?????) the GP's actually cycle for 120 secs.....I watch my volt meter to know when they cycle off.

OEM relays are good for a couple of years, replacement from Autozone or NAPA are good for a year and I've had my Stancor since March of 03

here is guzzle's write up on it.....he used the 586-902 Stancor which is good for 12v....the 903 is good for 15v and less likely to burn up
Welcome to guzzle's Stancor GPR replacement Mod Web Page

i just replaced my 3rd gpr with a stancor over the weekend. my truck wouldn't start unless plugged in for at least 4 hours. i replaced it saturday morning, left the block heater unplugged and it started up on the 1st try about 24 hours after it was last run. sat night was below 30*, snowy and windy, left it unplugged again and it started right up. even though it appeared that the gpr was working, voltage drop and all, it clearly wasn't. no more cranking and cranking and recharging batteries and cranking to start in the morning without being plugged in, so no complaints here.
