So I'm curious to know what exactly goes on with the cam sensor recall. What is the ford dealer suppost to do with the recall? Anybody had it done or know whats up with this?

If its not the new grey color, they replace it no questions asked. Atleast thats what they told me.
I had it done last week, new one instaled by dealer and now it looks as though i may get a refund for my last 260$ cps from ford i required in a pinch.
Had mine done this week 5/1/08. And was told I should be getting a check in 2 to 4 weeks for the one I installed. But I am still wondering if the one I installed was bad, I bought it right from a International Truck dealership.
If you have the old style (green i believe) they will replace it with a new updated grey one no questions just like everyone else said. Some people on here have reported things going wrong with the truck immediately after having it replaced by the dealership. Its not hard to replace (i did mine) and if you talk to the service manager, hey may give you the CPS for free, let you install it, and they still get their money for it and to guarantee the dealership doesn't mess with anything Welcome to guzzle's CPS R&R Web Page thats the write up on how to do it. I personally wouldnt trust the dealership though
yeah i wish the dealers here in NJ where easy to deal with. i wanted to keep my international sensor and give them there crappy orginal that i still had. i should have put the stock one in to have them change it, but i kinda forgot and didnt think it was a huge deal but we will see.
I guess on the same note, i got lucky that my neighbor (and also one of my dad's good friends) is the diesel tech/shop manager at our local stealership, so he had no objection to me getting the sensor (he gets paid for not doing anything haha). He even makes fun of how ridiculously priced a dealership is. We need more people like him in this crazy diesel world
Still waiting for my letter from Ford. I did go to the local dealer. Told the service manager that the (black) unit in the truck worked great, but that I had a (black) unit in the glove compartment that I wanted to trade. No questions asked, no hassle. He sent a runner to the parts dept. Just sign the papers and I was on my way. FWIW I mistakenly went to the Fleet Truck side of the house. Maybe that's the difference.
well its like a week with the new sensor, and it sucks. I feel I am getting about .5 to 1 mpg less with the new sensor. The sensor that was in there I put in straight from International. It was the stock one for the motor not the Blue one thats suppose to mess with the timing. I think when I get my money from Ford I will be buying the International one again. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue? I also think the truck is running rough, very little but I can feel it just at idle. OOOOO And now the dealer called a few days ago and wanted to know the mileage when i changed the sesor because the refund got kicked back to them. I hope they are not gonna screw me out og the refund.
Ijust recieved my 2nd notice for the cps recall. I still haven't decided if I want to take it to them. It runs great with the black on in and I have a spare black one in the tool cubby. It was replaced at 98k under the 100k milage warranty. (i paid the 100 bucks) I posted a note about this before and I just dont want them (dealer) flashing the tuner etc. So i am still on the fence with this issue. Jeff

I haven't had mine done yet either. I'm going to take square dancers advice and see if our local Ford stealership will just give me one. If it ain't broke don't fix it!!

I had the recall done. Bad move. I am going to IH to see if I can get one of the old ones. Some get worse mileage, some get a number eight dead cylinder. Some are fine. Another so-called engineer had a better idea. With all my trucks I only had one cps go bad with the old ones. And I just fixed it on the road.
Well the only reason I went it got it done, was in the event i was in a accident they couldnt say it was caused by that sensor. Now Ford is still liable for the truck they made with the recalls done that they intoduced. But when I get my refund I will be buying a new sensor again from International. This one sucks, I am getting less mpg and I feel the truck has a little shake at idle. Probally only something I feel since I am in the truck all the time.
