hey guys, I have been looking around for another truck lately (I really need a 250 4X4) The latest candidate is a 1989 F250 4X4 with a fuel injected 300 I6 and a five speed stick. It seems pretty reasonable...new clutch, exhaust, brakes and no rust for $3800. My question is: is the fuel injected 300 any more powerful than its carburated older brothers and is a enough for a big 250. I will be using it off road some, but mostly for on road and highway communting and towing. i like the 300 engine and since i will using it for some highway commuting as well as heavy work, the gas mileage is a plus.

i recently went from 85 carbureted to 88 fuel injected 6 and i feel the injected is quite a bit better to drive. it pulls smoother and stronger and as the cooler weather approaches it is nice to not worry about warming up to get smooth running in morning.
Well, I just converted my 82 to EFI(MAF Setup off of a 96,) big difference in drivability, definatley some more power, seems to have more low end, and it is definatley easier on fuel.

Oh well; I have no doubt my old six will keep going for a while longer...i really don't want to sell this truck; I had intended to (for a learnning experience) convert it to 4WD, get a real four speed in there and eventually swap in a rebuilt 6, but after discovering the frame is bent, i have become a bit discouraged .
