transmission selsection
well its not really a selection lol its what i got, ive got a tremec t-170ft, also known as a 3 speed with over drive, its got an all aluminum case and a top mount shifter
im planning on installing this in a truck with a 302 and i would like to achieve a minimum of 250 horse to a maximum of 300 horse, im planning on using it behind a fuel injected motor i want to know simply if it will hold up and be a reliable gearbox,
i know the rat and rug trannys are junk, this one is the code RTS i had this transmission in my 85 f150 with a 300 straight 6 and had no problems with it, even lit em up a few times, not terribly concerned about the gearing i personally liked the way it shifted, never used overdrive much it lagged quite a bit with the 6 ANYWAY, so will i be okay? i really dont want to go out and buy a 5 speed, i dont have the doh, with that said i may not even be able to hop up the 302, probably just gonna find a nice running fuel injected motor and refresh it with some new gaskets and a nice exhaust
