Hey guys and gals. I was just looking over some of the post and I am seeing some of your profiles and some suggest that you are running a Blue CPS. Now I do know of the problems that the stock CPS, anyone with a power stroke has either had the problem or will. I looked to a web site and it claims better milage, power and smoothness. Those of you that have tried the Blue CPS, what benifits did you find.
Ford has a recall out with I believe a grey one that is suppose to be the best one to use. It is also cheaper or free if you let the dealer change it for you.
Well, I have already replaced mine about 2 years ago and so far no problems. I also have a new spare in the glove box. I was just wondering what's up with the profiles with some of you posting the Blue one like it's something special. My 99 is getting around 14 mpg in town and 17 highway. If this Blue gizmo can give me a couple more, over time it will pay for itself. Especially with todays fuel cost.
I had a blue in my other truck 99.5 and I did not see any difference between the two but that is just my experience don't know about others. I am going with the new one since it is suppose to be the most reliable when I get time to let Ford change it.
I have even had a couple of people I know tell me that the CPS from the International 466 inliner add power. I'm not sure it these guys know a lug nut from a hood latch either. LOL
Yeah I don't see it adding anything since all it does is tell the PCM where the cam is. When Harley first came out with the twin cam motor they used a CPS then they figured out they did not really need it I changed out my igintion on my bike to one that does not need the CPS. Wish there was a way to do away with it on the truck.
all I can say about the blue one is...Jody from DP tuner has come on here before and told us not to use the blue CPS with his tunes...it advances the timing a little and can mess things up cause Jody plays with the timing as well...if you go too far bad things can happen... Jody's tunes are made with the black CPS in place... if you don't want to take my word for it.. you should call Jody and ask for your self... some guy's say they have no problems..but i am not chancing it... im sure Jody knows what he is talking about...
have you checked for boost leaks?? also the up pipes for soot?.. a pluged EBPS tube will cut back MPG as well...
OK. I really don't have any big mods on my 99, just what I mention at the bottom of my page. I have thought about Jody's tuner, but I stuff enough money into my Dry Laker, which never seems to end. I will check out the boost tubes though. All and all I am really pleased with the 99. Just had seen something new, so I went to the best forum I knew. Great job guys.
It's been a long time since I've seen a question about the blue cps. The debate over that thing got hammered out in a huge thread (460 posts) that eventually got closed. Here's the link if you want to read through it: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...-blue-cps.html
The concensus though...everyone had a different opinion. I had one, noticed no difference, and took it out immediately when I heard Jody's take on it.

This is what I was kinda expecting. I had no idea that I was bringing up an old argument. By the way. What is the link to Jody? I have been rethinking what I said earlier. I know there is a lot of support for Jody's tuner, I just might give it a try. What the heck. Maybe I can make a pass at Bonneville this summer in the truck too.LOL
